November election ballot measures

Drs. Minkoff, Barth and Nied to receive SCMA awards Dec. 6

Three physicians will be honored at the annual SCMA Awards Dinner: Dr. Jerry Minkoff, for Outstanding Contribution to Sonoma County Medicine; Dr. Gary Barth, for Outstanding Contribution to the Community; and Dr. Rob Nied, for Outstanding Contribution to SCMA. Partnership HealthPlan will receive a Recognition of Achievement, and the Article of the Year award recipient will soon be determined. Tickets are FREE for SCMA members. Just published! Fall Sonoma Medicine

The fall issue of Sonoma Medicine has been mailed and features articles on epidemiology. Oct. 25: Physician Aid-in-Dying forum

In June, California became the fifth state to allow physicians to prescribe medication for terminally ill patients who wish to end their lives through provisions of the End of Life Option Act. SCMA's Physician Aid-in-Dying Task Force is hosting a meeting at Partnership HealthPlan on Oct. 25 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to discuss requirements of the California End of Life Option Act. Attendees will also hear first-hand about the "Oregon Experience," a panel discussion, and wrap-up with an understanding of the resources needed for physicians and their patients. The $20 cost includes registration and dinner, sponsored by Partnership HealthPlan. Reservations are required; seating is limited to 50. Please RSVP to rachel@scma.org.

Oct. 25: Operation Access Healthy Spirits volunteer celebration

Join this festive event at Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The evening will include live music, craft beer and wine, a gourmet banquet, and an awards presentation celebrating medical volunteers and partners who received the national Make A Difference Day All-Star Award from USA Today.
